Van Halen – II – 1979

The story about the second Van Halen album follows the story about this debut album. I got it on vinyl in my youth but never really cared för it. Listening to it now makes me realize the virtuosity of Eddie Van Halen. And the cover art might be one of the best ever. I really like the clean look with just a gigantic logo.

Music wise, II sounds kinda like the debut album. There’s no real development between these two albums. It’s solid rock with Eddie making rigorous solos. Nothing more and nothing less. I don’t like this as much as the first album with Van Halen but it’s ok if you’re in the right mood.
