The Price Sisters – Between the Lines – 2024
Between the Lines is an album I know nothing about. Nor do I know anything about The Price Sisters. I can pretty easily find some basic info, that they’re twins etc. But I think this should be about the music anyway. I don’t care if this is their first och fourteenth album.
I’ve always be fond of Bluegrass. Not that I really know why but there’s something about the tempos, the harmonies and the banjos. As far as I comprehend the genre those things are quite present in the genre. Of course there are other instrumentation as well, as mandolins, fiddles and stuff. It’s all natural since it’s a genre sprung from the Country, Americana and Folk traditions.
Between the lines starts out is a tempo that would make Yngwie Malmsteen envious. That’s not to say that there ar that kind och neoclassical scales that the Swedish guitarist used to the absurd. I’d rather say that The Price Sister bring something fresh to my ears. I would have preferred if there were even more song with really high tempos and maybe a little less harmonies. It kinda sound a bit to “nice” and laid back at times. I would have preferred a little more “dirty” sound.
So the bottom line is that the initial couple of track felt really vital but it soon got a bit boring. That’s not to say that there’s anything wrong with the craftsmanship. Because there isn’t. Between the lines just didn’t fill the expectation I got form the first couple of songs.
