Steve Lukather – I Found the Sun Again – 2021

I Found the Sun Again

I had no real expectations when I started to listen to I Found the Sun Again. I knew who Steve Lukather was. No real in-depth information but I basically knew who he was. My experience with Toto is pretty limited, I mainly know the hits, Hold the Line and Africa. To tell you the truth I didn’t even think about that sound until I started listening to I Found the Sun Again. Let me tell you. It sounds nothing like that…

That’s not necessarily a bad thing. I really liked the rock sound that Steve Lukather produces on this album. It’s not very hard and heavy and it’s not roots rock but there’s something to it. It’s stable, not particularly raw but very powerful. It’s true craftsmanship behind the songs. I think that might be the only way to describe it for me.

I did tire a bit after a while. The first half was better than the last. That’s not really unusual. It’s hard to keep the audience engaged for a longer period of time. At least it is hard to keep me engaged. I’m not saying I’m more difficult to please than someone else. Or… maybe that’s exactly what I say. But I like it. It speaks to me and I found it a very nice experience and expansion of my frame of reference.
