Roads – Into the Future – 1986

Into The Future

Into the Future was the only full length album of the band Rhoads. For me, Rhoads make me think of the late guitarist Randy Rhoads and since I never heard about this band before I made some assumptions. I shouldn’t have. Rhoads has nothing to do with Randy. I think the band name instead should be pointed towards the vocalist Kelle Rhoads, who apparently is the brother of Randy. It’s a small world isn’t it?

Another member worth mention and perhaps the only one that most of us have ever heard of, is the legendary drummer Nick Menza. Heäs probably best known for banging the drums on Megadeths album during the height of their carrier (according to me). Which is the Rust in Peace – Countdown to Extinction – Youthanasia era.

But what about the music? Well, it’s kinda typical for the time. It’s somewhat of a mix between Heavy Metal and Hardrock. I guess, if you have to compare it with something, early Judas Priest would be a good start. I don’t find it very memorable though. There are highlights and Into the fute certainly isn’t a bad album. But Into the Future sounds dated and the production values aren’t that great. I think this is more for the nostalgia nerds than anyone else.
