Nude Nuns with Big Guns – 2010

Nude Nuns with Big Guns

Nude Nuns with Big Guns is just what it says. Nude nuns. Maybe there’s not so much footage of complete frontal nun nudity but there’s plenty of topless footage to go around. Does that make this a watchable movie? Well, yes and no. I think it’s necessary for it to work as a parody of sorts of the whole nunsploitation genre. Nude Nuns with Big Guns isn’t really a nunsploitation by itself. It has lots of the elements. There are Nuns (duh) and they’re more or less naked at times.

They aren’t necessarily sexually willing though as it is in most true nunsploitation films. You know, the kind of movies that Joe D’Amato and Walerian Borowczyk made. Films like Behind Convent Walls and Images in a Convent both used some kind of eroticism within the convent like lesbianism and masturbation scenes. There are similar ideas here but they’re just for show. You need to not take this movie too seriously.

Here there are nude, or topless, nuns because it suits the narrative. Hmm, how should I put this? Of course, it suits any movie to have nuns nude if the story demands it. In Nude Nuns with Big Guns, it’s not so much the story it’s more the feel of the movie that demands it. We need the topless scenes to generate the effect that we are getting a spoof of a nunsploitation film so to speak. The nude scenes aren’t there for any erotic purpose, they’re there as irony and satire.

Furthermore, I think the whole lot is wrapped in the Wild West genre, the spaghetti kind. There are obvious homages and most of Nude Nuns with Big Guns is a pastiche of the dirty gritty genre after all. This isn’t really a grindhouse picture, it just goes to great length to look as one. I think that was all I wanted to say really. If you’re in the right mood, it’s entertaining but all in all, it’s not that great!
