Dark Web: Descent into Hell – 2021

descent into hell

Dark Web: Descent into Hell is about a YouTuber exploring the deep web. You know the part of the internet that is not searchable from google och other normal search engines. He’s making a series of posts where he descends deeper for each episode. His goal is to find the lowest possible tier. These lists exist more or less in real youtube videos today without having to script anything. Just do a search and I bet you’ll find some videos. They’re usually described as icebergs with one small piece above water and a humongous portion hidden by the surrounding water. The further down you go the darker it gets.

Because we have to differ the deep web from the supposed Dark Web. The place where the rumors say you can find everything from human sex trafficking to hitmen for hire. Of course, there’s also a drug market and so on. I, personally have never found anything so I can’t say that this is absolutely true. But judging by the character of the human race I’m pretty sure we can find the darkest sides om humanity online. It’s just a matter of how deep you search.

Anyway. This guy starts from the top and gets help penetrating the lower levels. I think it could really be a legitimate youtube video. It’s very realistic in that way. It’s more than between recording his episodes there’s some acting and it doesn’t always work as well as you would imagine. He covers some topics I have seen covered in real youtube videos and claim that some are real and some are fake. I don’t know what’s true or not. But while exploring some red room his computer gets hijacked. And not only that. His entire life is driven to the edge. Now someone knows everything about him and his friends and soon he has to do unspeakable things to keep near and dear friend alive in the red rooms. This is when he has descended into hell for sure.

I think the main plot is fairly entertaining. It’s not very scary and not always realistic (apart from the youtube segments). It’s a fun flick to have seen and if you’re like me and like everything that portrays social media at its very worst, och reality shows at its most cruel times, I think you will enjoy it. It most probably won’t last a permanent impression but for 80 minutes of entertaining, It’s decent. I would love to hear your thoughts about it.
