Dark Lord – 1988 – It’s Nigh’ Time

I often make a point out of listening and view stuff that I know nothing about. I come over som gems from time to time. Most often it’s quite forgettable stuff though. In the case of Dark Lord, it’s a band that I never heard of before. I can’t remember where I found it but it came to be in my possession. At the beginning I started out by really liking the record. Why it’s called “It’s Nigh’ Time” without a T in the word Night I don’t know. It doesn’t really matter anyway. The music blasting out is typical heavy metal from the ’80s. It could have been about any band from that era. But it’s not, it’s Dark Lord, an Italian band that the world forgot about.

It’s not bad in any way. It’s just nothing special and I guess that’ why they’re not around anymore. Not to my knowledge anyway. If you’re hell-bent on ’80s metal music you should be in for a treat but if you want something that stands out from the rest of the bands during that time you’ll be disappointed.

So, how do you grade something like this? On one hand it’s pretty god solid metal from an era that’s not here anymore. On the other hand, it’s quite boring. It’s both high and low. But the bottom line must be how entertained I was by it. and quite frankly…it’s boring.
