Chaos – 2005 – The most brutal movie ever made

Chaos

First of all, there’s another movie called Chaos from 2005 starring Jason Statham. If you’re looking for that one, please stop reading now. You won’t be prepared for what this movie is going to make to you. As it says on the cover this might very well be the most brutal movie ever made. It’s not about the gore, of course, there are plenty of other movies with more gore in them. But I’d say that is a very positive thing. Usually when it comes to very gory and violent movies they crossover to a comedic effect. There’s nothing of that in Chaos!

Violated young women

It’s about these two young women going to a rave party in the middle of the forest. needless to say, they really don’t end up at the rave party, they are abducted and submitted to unspeakable violence. You might say that there is nothing new about that plot and you’d be right. We have seen it many times before. The first movie that comes to my mind is Wes Cravens Last House of the left which is very similar to this one. But if you had to repeat to yourself that the last house on the left was only a movie to keep from fainting, I’d say you should keep away from this one. The Last House on the left might have more class to it. It’s a betty production and it has certainly gone down in cult movie history. But Chaos is far more unpleasant to watch.

You might think that this is a really cheap-looking movie based on the cover art. I made that assumption myself. But the acting is actually really good most of the time. There are annoying exceptions and it’s pretty predictive most of the time, but there is certainly an edge to it that many other violent movies don’t have. I say that the realism is very well portrayed and I actually feel repulsed by it. By the violence and the sadism portrayed but the main character – Chaos. Nice nickname don’t you think?

Revenge with a twist

I’ve seen my fair share of violent rape/revenge movies in my time and I can’t really remember when one of them got this far under my skin. The only negative thing about it is that there’s really nothing new. Some poor girls get raped and someone is going to revenge for the crimes made against their daughters. We have all seen that before, right? Well, I thought so too. But the ending surprised me. I thought I had it figured out but I hadn’t. There are some twists and turns that made the experience fresh for me. I’m not sure I like it all the way. It kinda feels like they were out of money and needed a fast ending but I can live with that. Most of the 76-minute-long film is pure terror and madness.
