Accept – Blind Rage – 2014
Accept is a band that has experienced a remarkable resurgence in recent years. Both Stalingrad and Blood of the Nations felt incredibly fresh, considering they came from a supposedly washed-up band like Accept. With Blind Rage, they reach new heights. I’m not sure if I can claim it’s the best ever so far from Accept, but it’s definitely very close!
Mark Tornillo has integrated so seamlessly into the band that you would never have guessed there was another vocalist before. The songs on Blind Rage are classic, exactly what you’d expect from Accept. They sound like they did in the good old days, but fresher. I don’t know what it is, but the guitar sound has always been the band’s strong suit. It’s still distinct and recognizable, and I love it! There’s a thick, delightful tone that no other band has. Plus, the characteristic male choir, has been Accept’s trademark for many years.
To produce such a good, fresh, modern, and classic record 35 years after their debut and as their fourteenth album, I wonder what comes next. Accept is back, they belong to the greats, and will always be among them. At least for the foreseeable future!
