Accept – Balls to the Wall -1983

Balls to the Wall

Balls to the Wall was one of the first Hardrock/Metal albums that really got to me. It was exciting back in the day and it still has that nerve that gets to you. It’s still really good and has aged very well! Musically I would like to include them in NWOBHM but since they’re from Germany and not Britain that will be a problem. Besides, New Wave of British Heavy Metal is more of a movement than a musical genre for me. There are some great songs on this one! Of course, the title track Balls to the Wall, which to this day remains one of the more iconic songs by the band! Of course, back in those days, it was kinda taboo to sing about “balls” but nowadays I don’t think anyone would even notice.

Other noticeable songs are London Leatherboys, which fits pretty well since Accept was one of those pioneer bands to use leather on stage. No studs, just leather! It was cool back in the day! There’s also Fight it back which still is a really good song. Of course, there’s lots of nostalgia here for me but I also have to take into consideration that I more or less played this album to pieces in my youth. So it doesn’t have that same sense of “fresh” any more.
